I suppose I technically started my journey to sexiness last night when I chose carrots as a snack over that delicious looking honey bun or a slice of pizza that I really and truly wanted, but today is my first real day of the Lose It! program.
Unfortunately, I didn't get up in time for breakfast. Working the evening shift puts me home late and my dog decided last night would be the perfect night to not sleep, so it was 11:30 when I finally crawled out of bed.
Lunch was, of course, first on my agenda.
Now, when I think diet or lifestyle change, it usually sends me into a fit of hysterical sobs. One of my favorite things in the world to eat is salad, but not the healthy kind because I normally drench it in Ranch dressing. My ranch is one thing I refuse to give up. I'll say goodbye to french fries and to soda, but I'll be damned if I'm giving that up too. So I made a compromise. Rather than use the normal amount of ranch, I cut it in half, going from 480 calories to 240.
That's still a lot for a damn salad condiment, but I just can't let go. I'll never let go, Jack. I'll never let go. I also had, rather than my normal lunch of half a cheese steak wrap and french fries, 4 ounces of grilled, skinless chicken breast.
I've already planned out the rest of my food for the day. My madre is fixing spaghetti for dinner and since I'll be at work, she agreed to bring dinner to me. She's been instructed to watch the portion size; one cup of noodles and 1/2 a cup of sauce.
Snacks have also been planned out and bagged up in individual snack sized bags.
I got this.
The thing that I like about Lose It! is that I don't have to give up my favorite things. I just need to be conscious about how much I'm eating.
I haven't tackled my exercising goal yet. I'm almost finished reading my Lose It! book, and then I need to tackle my Women's Fitness, come up with an exercise plan that's going to work for me.
I'm excited about this. I'm hoping that this is something I'll stick with this time. I'm also going to take some Before pictures while I'm getting ready for work. Those'll go up in the next post, that way hopefully I can have a visual of my progress.
I really should come up with a better way to end these posts, because now I'm just rambling.
Kthxbye.
I'm a chunky twenty-something on a quest to go out of my twenties thinner than when I came into them.

I'm told that it's a good idea to have goals.
It's supposed to give you something concrete to work towards. So alright then. Let's make some goals.
- Drink Less Soda/ Drink More Water: I've actually been working on this one for a few years now. Back in '09, I was drinking between four and six 32 ounce sodas a day. I don't know how my teeth didn't rot right out of my head. I managed to get away from that by substituting unsweetened tea for my sodas and it works pretty well, except those rare occasions that drinking a coke seems like a must. Lately though, I've been back on a soda kick and I'd like to kick the habit for good and up my water intake. Tea is good, but I need to focus on more water too.
- Pack Food for Work: This is a big one actually. I work shift work on a rotating schedule and it makes it difficult sometimes to eat like I should. It's much quicker to just grab a burger and fries while I'm there rather than take the time beforehand to prepare something to bring with me, especially when I'm working the midnight shift. I need to get better about this.
- Exercise 5 Times a Week: I don't have access to a fancy gym or anything like that, but this is still doable. I dug out my old Wii Fit balance board, I bought a Women's Fitness book and I'd like to start riding my bike, as long as weather permits. I don't have to break records, I just have to get moving.
These are small changes. Nothing huge, but if I can stick to these, then I can make the changes I want to make.
Well alrighty then. Let's do this.
Greetings
Salutations, and all that other fun stuff. I think this is probably my 9 millionth blogging attempt, so it's quite possible that by this time tomorrow, this blog will be abandoned along with all the others.
Let's hope not.
I suppose an introduction is in order.
My name is Brittany, but I loathe being called that. I'll answer to Britt, Liz, Hey Asshole... pretty much anything other than my full given name. For all intents and purposes of this blog, I shall henceforth be known as Chunky Lady or ~CL for short. It has a nicer ring than Hey Asshole.
I'm a twenty-something, slightly overweight young woman and I decided to start a blog to chronicle (that's such a fun word) my journey into the weight loss world. I'm not an active person; on a few occasions, I've given running a shot but it's never been something I've been able to stick with and I'm going to try to change that.
I'm probably the world's pickiest eater, which has always made healthy eating a challenge. I've just never been able to find things that are healthy and taste good. You probably won't find a whole lot of original recipes here because cooking and creating really just isn't my thing, but I will share recipes and workout tips that I've found online.
I don't have much to lose, but I want this journey to be about more than just dropping numbers on a scale. I want to tone, I want to rebuild my body, and more importantly, I want to learn to feel good about myself.
I'll be twenty-six in a few weeks. At this point, I'm already past the midway point of my twenties and dammit, I'm going out looking better than I could have ever imagined coming in.
